wight's pond, maine

The site for this remote house sits at a joint between forest and field, and captures views down to a remote pond.  The house is thought of as a blind in the woods, where viewing the almost-constant wildlife movement is one of its main reasons for being.   Its form takes inspiration from the huge glacial erratic boulders that dot the landscape along this part of the Maine coast.  The form also adapts well to the energy-efficient passive house design principles that will greatly reduce its energy footprint.
